Vasiliki (Celia) Lascarides-Manley age 91 of Brookline passed away on Wednesday, September 25, 2024 at the Sherrill House . She was the beloved wife of William F. Manley who passed away on January 15, 2014. Born in Thessaloniki, Greece, she was the daughter of Losif Lascarides (originally from Izmir) and Sevastianie Meimeridis. She completed her first and second level education in Greece and her undergraduate and graduate studies in the United States. For many years she was a professor at Boston University with specialty on education. In 2000 she published the book "History of Early Childhood Education" that she co-authored. The book has received great reviews, it is very popular and even today it is used in education-related undergraduate and graduate programs.

Celia was very generous. She donated her house that she inherited from her parents to a Greek church in Athens. In 2014, Celia and her husband William established a scholarship fund at the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of New England in Boston for high school senior students. Celia along with her husband was a faithful and active parishioner of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral of New England in Boston.
