October 10, 1939 – August 13, 2021
Theodore Aristidis "Teddy" Tziavas , 81, of Watertown, MA passed away unexpectedly on Friday, August 13, 2021 while swimming at Seagull Beach in West Yarmouth due to cardiac issues. He was born on October 10, 1939 in Dyrrachio Arkadia , Greece. He was the son of the late Aristidis and Eugenia Tziavas . In 1969, he married his sweetheart, Georgia (Kefalas) Tziavas in Greece . They came to the United States shortly thereafter and made Watertown their home. They were blessed with three children, Eugenia (Gina) , Sof ia, and Aristidis (Aris) .
Teddy started his own plumbing business, Tziavas & Son Plumbing Company , and ran it until his retirement in the early 2000s . His son Aris has continued his leg acy since that time, while Teddy continued to help ou t by picking up parts for jobs or running errands.
Teddy was a member of the Taxiarchae Greek Orthodox Church in Watertown and served on the Parish Council. He loved his church and was a devout Orthodox Christian. He could always be found at the church for Sunday liturgy, working around his beloved church or helping at the annual Grecian Festival behind the famous gyro alongside his son Aris making delicious gyro' s. Spending summers in West Yarmouth with the family and swimming at Seagull Beach was the highlight of the summer season for him , or at home in Watertown tending to his garden. He would always have a fresh cut sprig of basil behind his left ear. Cooking his Easter lamb on the spit in his backyard was another tradition in the Tziavas Family.
He is survived by his beloved wife Georgia (Kefalas) Tziavas and his loving children, Eugenia Sege, Sofia Tziavas-Kapadoukakis and her husband Anthony, and Aristidis Tziavas and his wife Roubina , and his grandchildren, Georgia and Alexi Sege, Amaleah , Theadora , and Adrianna Tziavas .
