Sylvie (Sanoukian) Stenis, aged 91, of Watertown, Massachusetts, departed this world unexpectedly on August 23, 2026. Born in Beirut, Lebanon to the late Ohanes and Araxie (Oundjian) Sanoukian, Sylvie’s journey began amidst rich cultural heritage. After World War II, her family relocated to Paris, France, a city she cherished deeply throughout her life. In the early 1970s, Sylvie embraced new horizons in the United States, where she would meet and marry her beloved husband, Peter Stenis. Together, they planted roots in Cambridge, Massachusetts, nurturing a family with their son, John.

Sylvie's brilliance shone brightly; she was a polyglot fluent in five languages, cherished her independence, and lived vibrantly on her own until recently. Her daily walks along Mt. Auburn Street were marked by friendly exchanges with local shopkeepers, embodying a community spirit she nurtured. A culinary artist, Sylvie delighted many with her impeccable Armenian and Greek dishes, and she found solace by the ocean. Paris, in particular, held a special place in her heart, filled with treasured memories.

Her faith was unwavering, and she was a devoted member of both the Armenian and Greek Orthodox communities. Each year, she celebrated her heritage with joyful dances at the Greek Church festival.

Sylvie proudly became an American citizen in 2002, a milestone that filled her with immense pride. Her cherished moments included time spent with her son, daughter-in-law, and nieces, enveloped in familial love.

Sylvie leaves behind her dear son, John Stenis, and his wife, Dawn. She reunites in peace with her late husband, Peter, who passed in 2019, and her parents and siblings: Mardiros Sanoukian, Arpinee Berberian, Lillian Hallocoglu, and Henri Sanoukian. Her legacy also endures through her loving nieces, Susan Hallocoglu and her husband Giovanny, Ani Berberian and her husband Kurt, Shoghig Berberian, and Marlene Sanoukian and her husband Harri.

A future date will be set for her burial, where Sylvie's legacy will be remembered and celebrated.
