Steven Kourepenis passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 7, 2024.Born in Somerville, MA on April 23, 1937, Steven attended Northeastern University in the Reserved Officers Training Program (ROTC), graduating in 1960 with a B.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He subsequently served two years in the U.S. Army stationed at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. He married Eugenia Couris on November 11, 1962, and they settled in Watertown, MA to raise their family. His professional career started at the U.S. Army Materials & Mechanics Research Center, Watertown Arsenal and culminated after 35 years of dedicated service, as a Senior Manager at the Polaroid Corporation. Steven was a devoted son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to many.
He is survived by his sons, Anthony Kourepenis (Elaina Kourepenos) of Acton, MA, Kerry Kourepenos (Maria Carreras Kourepenos) of New York City, his six grandchildren, Steven Anthony Kourepenos, Georgiana Nicole Kourepenos, Rebecca Evania Kourepenos, Alexa Grace Kourepenos, Ariana Eve Kourepenos and Ellery Faith Kourepenos, his two brothers, James Kourepines (Anna) of Woburn, MA and Alexander Kourepenis of Woburn, MA, his sister Alexandra Havanidis (late husband George) of Woburn, MA, and his sister-in-law Theodora (Bunny) Spyropolous (Kosta) of Watertown, MA.
He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Visitation will be at the Faggas Funeral Home, 551 Mt. Auburn Street, Watertown, MA on Sunday, February 11,2024 from 2:00pm to 5:00pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the Taxiarchae Greek Orthodox Church. The funeral will be held at the Taxiarchae Greek Orthodox Church, 25 Bigelow Avenue, Watertown, MA on Monday, February 12 at 10:00am. Please meet directly at the church.
