Spiros Stavropoulos, 93, of Watertown passed away peacefully on April 7, 2026 surrounded by his family. Born in Vassara, Sparti, Greece, he was the beloved husband of Panagiota (Korini) Stavropoulos with whom he shared almost 65 years of marriage. Loving father of Peter Stavropoulos, Georgia Stavropoulos, and Mary Gharios and her husband Gerard. Cherished Pappou of Steven Gharios and Alex Gharios. Survived by his brother Fotis Stavropoulos and his wife Katerina of Greece, his sister Mary Groussis of Newton, and his sister-in-law Vasiliki Stavropoulos of Weston. He was predeceased by his siblings George Stavropoulos, Konstantina Kolovou and Michael Stavropoulos. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends here, in Toronto and in Greece.
Spiros was known for his outgoing and energetic personality. He was a devout Greek Orthodox Christian who was generous with his time and support, and touched the lives of many throughout the years. He found joy and purpose in his work and approached everything he did with dedication and enthusiasm. Above all, he truly cherished his family, especially his grandsons, who were his greatest joy. He will be dearly missed and remembered by all who knew and loved him.
May his memory be eternal.
On Thursday, April 16, a visitation will be held from 10-11am at the Taxiarchae Greek Orthodox Church, 25 Bigelow Ave., Watertown. Funeral services will follow at 11am. Burial will take place immediately following the funeral at Newton Cemetery, 791 Walnut St., Newton. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the above named church.
