Spilios "Steve" Balodimas, age 86, of Athens, Greece and Pompano Beach Florida, passed away peacefully on August 1, 2024. He was the beloved husband for 43 years of Evangelia (Konstantellou) Balodimas who predeceased him, loving father of Eugenia Balodimas Friedlander (Dr. Robert Friedlander) and Maria Balodimas Staton (Daniel Staton), and proud, devoted Pappou to seven grandchildren: Henry, Arianna, Alexandra, George, Jack, Daniela, and Eva.

Spilios, the son of Vasilios and Eugenia Balodimas, was born on January 11, 1938 in Pylos, Greece. He emigrated to Canada and then the United States and lived in Dracut, MA. He was a member and past president of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Lowell, MA. He worked at Stellos Electric for many years and then owned several residential properties that he successfully managed and grew. He had an infectious love of life and lit up any room he entered. He loved the ocean, whether swimming in the Atlantic in Pompano Beach in front of his home, or in the Mediterranean in Greece. He shared his love for Greece and the ocean with his family. He spent most summers in his home in Greece until the past few years. He was a dedicated husband, father, Pappou, and friend whose driving force was to help others. His drive for excellence and education, humor, love of life, wisdom, and innate intelligence will always be remembered. He was a gift to us all.

On Tuesday, August 13, a viewing will take place from 9-10 a.m. at the St. Nektarios Church, 39 Belgrade Avenue, Roslindale, MA 02131. Funeral services begin at 10 a.m. and will be followed by interment at the Gardens of Gethsemane, 670 Baker Street West Roxbury, MA 02132.
