SALLY ELIZABETH SKINNER NEWBOLD PARSONS 11/23/1918 - 08/09/2010 WATERTOWN---Sally Elizabeth Skinner Newbold Parsons, 91, of Watertown, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 9, 2010. Born in Hertford NC, raised in Rutherford NJ by her parents, Jack McMullan and Annie Eliza (Gregory) Newbold, she graduated from the New Jersey College for Women, married Allan Fowler Parsons (deceased 1986), and lived in the San Francisco area until 1950. Before coming to Watertown to live near family in 2006, she made her home in West Hartford CT. She was the beloved mother of Elizabeth Anne, of Watertown; Allan Bruce and his wife Mary, of Deming NM; Craig Newbold and his wife Sandra, of Pittsfield NY; Alice Meredith, of Midland MI; and Keith Raynor and his wife Teresa, of DeSoto KS. She also delighted in her grandchildren: Jonathan, Jenny, and Eliza Petrow; Clifford and Candice Parsons; Ian, Luke, and Jessie Hotchkiss; and Carly Parsons. With her family, she spent many summers in Tenants Harbor ME, where she was known for her hospitality and friendship. She is survived by a sister-in-law and good friend, Virginia Parsons Breuer, of Newington CT, and by many nieces and nephews. She will be warmly remembered for her sweet nature and unfailing kindness to others. A memorial service in celebration of her life will be held at the First Parish of Watertown, on Sunday, August 29, at 2:00. Interment will be at a later date at the Bridge Street Cemetery, Northampton MA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to PATS (Pediatric Aids Treatment Support), PO Box 381740, Cambridge MA 02238-1740, a charity established by her granddaughter to care for AIDS affected children in rural China; or to First Parish of Watertown, 35 Church St., Watertown MA 02472.
