Obituary

Ruth (Wolen) Lapon, 95, died at home on July 12, 2014. Raised in Brooklyn, NY, Ruth graduated Brooklyn College in 1939 at age 20, majoring in English with awards in French and German. She was a retired postal worker. She loved to socialize with her many dear friends at Seniority House and Springfield Hobby Club. She loved to dine out with family and friends and was an avid reader and fan of Boston sports teams. She never forgave the Brooklyn Dodgers for moving to Los Angeles. She met her beloved husband of 48 years, Albert Lapon, in Washington DC where they were working during WWII. They raised 3 sons in Boston. She was predeceased by her parents Harry and Ida Wolen, her husband Al (1990), her son Lee Lapon and her brother Jack Wolen. She is survived by her son Lenny Lapon and his wife Filomena Rios Garcia (both Ruths loving caregivers), her son Allan, her brother Jerry Wolen, grandchildren Gary Lapon, Jamie Lee Moushigian and husband James, Victoria Tori Lapon and Roberta Quirk and husband Dan and great-grandchildren Everett, Killian and Calista Quirk. Ruth will be dearly missed by both family and her many wonderful friends. Service and burial was at Adath Jershurun Cemetery in Boston on July 16, 2014; arrangements by Faggas Funeral Home: info at www.faggas.com.
