Philip J.
Mastrangelo
October 21, 1941 – November 6, 2021
Philip J. Mastrangelo, age 80, of Franklin, formerly of Cambridge, beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on November 6, 2021. He was born on October 21, 1941 to the late Rocco and Philomena Mastrangelo, who emigrated from Naples and Anzano di Puglia, Italy. Raised in Cambridge, MA, he was the youngest of four brothers and one sister, Anthony, Angelo, Joseph, Louis, and Marie.
Philip worked in the transportation business while raising his family, and then with his brother, Louie at their family-run Alive and Kicking Lobsters, locally famed in Cambridge and Boston for its freshly caught and made lobster sandwich.
Philip made time for each member of his large family. He is survived by his beloved brother Louis Mastrangelo of Cambridge and sister Marie Gravallese and her husband Vincent of Framingham, his beloved daughter Dawn Marie Dyer and her husband Rick of Spencer and his son Philip Mastrangelo and wife Christine of Franklin as well as his grandchildren, Aimee Swope and her husband Greg, Neal Giggey and his wife Tara, Brendon Giggey and his wife Erica, and Layla and Vincent Mastrangelo. Philp enjoyed being a doting great-grandfather to Jayden, Grace, Jack, Lincoln, Grant, Dante, and Heath.
Philip loved family gatherings around a shared meal, making spaghetti sauce and pizzagaina, recipes handed down from his mother and he always had a fun story to share. His generosity, love of family and friends, and his appreciation for the simple beauty of life will always be remembered.
A Celebration of life and prayer service will be held on Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at the funeral home from 11AM to 1PM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Burial will be private.
