Obituary

Peter Simoglou, of Watertown, MA, passed away peacefully in his home on July 26, 2015 surrounded by family. Peter was born in Boston, MA on November 18, 1933. Beloved son of the late Nicholas and Olga (Frantzopoulou) Simoglou. Loving twin brother of Elaine Kotsifas, Andrew Simoglou and his wife, Yiota and the late Arthur Simoglou. He is also survived by seven nephews. Peter received his undergraduate degree from Harvard University, Class of 1956, and a Master's Degree in Library Science from Simmonds College. He was employed at the Boston Public Library, and Librarian at Northern Essex Community College. Peter enjoyed travel to Greece, listening to opera and reading books from his extensive personal library collection. His knowledge of the Greek classics, especially the Byzantine Empire, always enlightened family and friends. He was a humble, quiet man who valued education and the legacy of his Greek Orthodox heritage. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2015 at 10:30 AM at the Taxiarchae Greek Orthodox Church, 25 Bigelow Avenue, Watertown, MA. Visitation prior to the Service from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at the church. Relatives and friends kindly invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Hellenic College/Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology, 50 Goddard Ave., Brookline, MA, 02445 or to the Taxiarchae Church. Burial in Ridgelawn Cemetery, Watertown, MA. May his memory be eternal.
