Pauline "Polyxenia"
Nikiforov
October 4, 1951 – October 20, 2022
Pauline (Polyxenia) Nikiforov of Framingham, Massachusetts passed away on October 20th, 2022. Wife of Victor Nikiforov, and loving mother to Anastasia and recently reposed Michael. Leaving behind her family in Australia, she was the fond sister of Alla Kozulin, Ilia Polorotoff, Nikolai Polorotoff, Valentina and her husband Walter Jigalin, John Polorotoff and his wife Lidia, and deceased Irene Petrov and Pantilimon Polorotoff. She is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, Godchildren, and friends in both the United States and Australia.
Pauline was born on October 4th, 1951 in Harbin, China to Alexander and Anna Polorotoff. The Polorotoff family left communist China in 1960 and arrived in Australia when Pauline was 10 years old. Pauline met Victor while traveling on a pilgrimage to the Holy Land in 1973. After returning to Australia, Pauline and Victor communicated by handwritten letters for 4 years. During a trip to the US to visit Victor, Pauline was convinced he was the one for her. They were married on November 20th, 1977 in Albany, New York, and then settled in Framingham, Massachusetts.
Growing up, Pauline was a talented seamstress who was so good with her hands that she was known in Australia as having "golden hands." This became her hobby when she entered the medical field in the US, working as a nurse aid and then a phlebotomist. Pauline continued her passion of sewing by making matching family outfits for yearly vacations to Dennis Port, Cape Cod. She also helped as often as she could, despite her painful arthritis, in sewing church vestments for the Holy Nativity Convent in Brookline, MA. Pauline also took delight in gardening. The beautiful colors of her hibiscus and rose plants were overwhelming in not just color, but scent. She shared the fruits of her labor by pickling cucumbers for the church, friends, and coworkers.
Polyxenia faithfully attended the divine services at the Convent and Monastery in Brookline, MA and was a warm-hearted and caring presence, always ready with a kind word to whomever she greeted. She will be dearly missed by all.
The Trisagion service will be held on Sunday, October 23rd, 2022 at 7pm at the Holy Transfiguration Monastery, 278 Warren Street, Brookline, Massachusetts. Funeral service will be on Monday, October 24th, 2022 at 10am at the Monastery. Burial will be held on Tuesday, October 25th, 2022, at the Holy Trinity Monastery Cemetery, Jordanville, New York. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Holy Transfiguration Monastery in Brookline, MA.
