Paraskevi (Mahairas) Markopoulos, of Newton Lower Falls, MA passed away on August 10, 2023.  Born in Arahova, Sparti, Greece. Daughter of the late Nicholas and Antonia (Voukidis) Mahairas.  She came to United States at the age of 27. She settled in Boston, MA.  She worked as a seamstress for Stride Rite shoe company for many years.  In 1959, she met the love of her life, Elias Markopoulos and they married.  They made their home in Newton Lower Falls.  They had two sons, George and Nicholas Markopoulos. They owned and operated Maugus Restaurant in Wellesley, MA and Nick's Restaurant in Hudson, MA for over 20 years until their retirement.

Paraskevi loved gardening and cooking.  She would share her vegetables with all of her neighbors.  Two years ago she planted over 25 tomato plants on her own.  She was very independent and enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.

She was a devout Orthodox Christian .  She will be sadly missed.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Elias Markopoulos.

She is survived by her two sons, George Markopoulos and his wife Mary, and Nicholas Markopoulos and his wife Elaine.  She was the proud Yiayia of Amy Markopoulos, Christine Markopoulos, Sarah Markopoulos, Adam Markopoulos, Alexis Markopoulos, and Evan Markopoulos and his wife Nicole.  Loving sister of Georgia Belesiu and her husband Thanasi, Christina Kapsopoulos and her husband Dimitri, and the late Chrysanthi Voukides, and the late Vasiliki Copses.  Sister in law of the late Antonios Voukides, and the late Louis Copses. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.  Funeral Service on Wednesday, August 16, 2023 at St. Demetrios Greek Church, 57 Brown Street, Weston, MA at 10:30AM.  Visitation prior to the Service from 9:30AM – 10:30AM at the church. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend.  In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the above named church.

Burial in St. Mary's Cemetery, Needham, MA.
