Panagiotis Delianidis entered the presence of God on April 16, 2026, at the age of 76 after a lengthy illness. Born in Akropotamos, Greece, on February 15, 1950, to George and Rodama Delianidis, he was the youngest of four children. During Panagiotis’ childhood, his father died as a result of war-related injuries defending his country, and Panagiotis inherited his father’s spirit of patriotism and love for their homeland of Greece. He lost his mother 7 years later, and moved to Vienna, Austria, for university studies. He then immigrated to the Boston area, where he worked as an electrician for several decades, earning gratitude from customers across New England.

Panagiotis’ greatest love, however, was the Greek Evangelical Church of Boston, which became his second home. He served the church in many capacities – recording the church’s weekly radio program, mailing cassette tapes and CDs around the world with recordings of the church’s services, and meticulously caring for the church’s building. Perhaps his greatest impact was as Director of the Greek School, where he taught for more than three decades. Panagiotis modeled love for Greece and a passion for excellence, teaching children to read, write, and speak the Greek language, and the School’s weekly language lessons were interspersed with life advice for his students. He organized field trips, picnics, and celebrations to bring the Greek Evangelical Church and Greek School community together, and was especially enthusiastic as he led the School’s participation in the annual Boston Greek Independence Day Parade, building elaborate floats as part of the Greek community’s annual celebration. He was also an avid gardener, feeding countless friends and relatives with produce from his garden.

Panagiotis is survived by his nephew Kostas (Despina) Emmanouilidis and their children Genovefa, Lydia, George, and Myrto; his sister Areti; nieces and nephews in Greece and the United States; and generations of current and former Greek school students who cherish their memories of his generous heart, love, and commitment to the Church. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2026 at 10:30 AM at the Greek Evangelical Church of Boston, 1115 Centre Street, Newton, MA 02459; the service will be streamed at this link. Visitation will be held in the church prior to the funeral services from 9:30-10:30 AM, and burial will follow in the Gardens Cemetery, 670 Baker Street, West Roxbury, MA 02132. Following the internment, all are invited to share in a time of remembrance and refreshments at the church.
