Nina Kochergin

(February 18, 1939 - January 7, 2021)

Nina Kochergin of Framingham, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on January 7, 2021 surrounded by her family. Devoted wife of Fr. George Kochergin. Loving mother of Sima Kochergin and his wife Panagiota, Serge Kochergin, and Natasha Kochergin-Pyka and her husband Ian. Cherished Babushka to George Kochergin. Loving sister of Alex Nikiforov and his wife Marie, and Victor Nikiforov and his wife Pauline. Beloved aunt of Nikifor Nikiforov and his wife Sara, Michele Penk and her husband Tom, Anastasia Nikiforov, and Michael Nikiforov. Also survived by many grand nieces and grand nephews, relatives and friends. Nina Kochergin was born in Poddubye, Russia and her family immigrated to America in 1950 after World War II. They settled in Albany, NY where Nina graduated from Philip Schuyler High School. She proceeded to graduate from Middlebury College in Middlebury, VT where she studied Russian Studies. Nina met her husband, George, in Albany, NY where they were married, and then settled in Framingham, MA. After raising her family, Nina worked in the Russian Department of Wellesley College for 20 years before retiring. Visiting hours on Monday, January 11, 2021 from 6pm to 8pm at St. Mark of Ephesus Orthodox Cathedral, 340 Clapboard tree Street, Westwood, Massachusetts. Funeral Service on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at 10am at the Cathedral. Burial will be held on Wednesday, January 13, 2021, at the Holy Trinity Monastery Cemetery, Mohawk, New York. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to St. Mark of Ephesus Orthodox Cathedral.
