Naomi S. (Garber) McShea, 95 years old, died at home on May 13, 2022 after a short illness. Born in the Bronx, Naomi McShea lived in Brookline, MA for nearly 55 years. She was a strong and talented woman. She worked as an urban planner for the Brookline Redevelopment Authority; ran a chicken farm for 16 years with her husband Robert; and was an avid music lover and pianist who continued to play chamber music into her 90s. She followed politics closely, for many years oversaw the White Elephant sale at the Cranberry Island Ladies' Aid Fair, and also wrote two children's books with her granddaughter. She was predeceased by her husband Robert (a professor of political philosophy at Boston University) and is survived by daughter Sarah D. McShea and her partner Michael Gilroy, of New York, NY, son Daniel W. McShea and daughter-in-law Diane Ritchie, of Durham, NC, grandchildren Hannah L. McShea and David R. McShea, and many dear friends. She graduated from Queens College and earned a Masters degree in Geography from Boston University. Private funeral services are on Monday May 16. A memorial is planned, but not yet scheduled.
