Matthew Panos

Matthew Panos, a lifelong Watertown resident, was born on December 28, 1931 as the beloved son of the late James and Marianthe Panos.

He graduated with the Watertown High School Class of 1951 and enlisted to service with the United Stated Coast Guard in 1952 and served on the icebreaker ship, the USS Eastwind with tours of duty through the Arctic where he helped keep Arctic bases supplied and shipping lanes free and secure for passage. He was honorably discharged in 1956. He was a proud G.I. Bill recipient and went on to study at Bentley College. After graduating, he loyally served as Comptroller and Human Resources Director for Intercontinental Real Estate Corp. (Boston) until his retirement at the age of 81.

He was devoted to the Greek Orthodox faith as a lifelong member of the Taxiarchae/Archangels Greek Orthodox Church in Watertown and was also a proud member of the American Legion, George K. Menichios Post # 324.

During his long, vigorous and happy life, he made many friends who he cherished as his extended family including Christopher Rousseau. He was happy to help anyone in needwithout regard to status or place in life. He is remembered for hosting friends and family alike to his home of many years on Lake Winnipesaukee where many fond memories were made.

He is pre-deceased by his older brother John Panos. He is survived by his sisters Jasmine Andrews (married to Paul Andrews); Popy Koshivos (married to the late James Koshivos); and Alex Panos( partner with Anita Goodman). He is also survived by beloved nephews and a niece, George Andrews (married to Lori Andrews); Marianthe Andrews; John Koshivos (married to Katrina Koshivos); Peter Koshivos; Demetri Panos; and Jason Panos along with several grand nieces and nephews.
