Maria Dos Anjos (Balceiro) Couto, 73, of Waltham, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on February 18, 2021.  Beloved wife of 54 years of Jose Couto. Born in Azores, Portugal. Maria came to America in 1965. Devoted mother of Berta Couto, and Cidalia Couto-Pierre and her husband Guy. Loving grandmother of Matthew Couto and Taylor Pierre. Cherished great grandmother of Paizlee Couto. Also survived by many relatives and friends. Maria loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, and great granddaughter, Paizlee.  The family enjoyed her delicious Portuguese cuisine.  Maria was a devout Christian. She was a member of the Legion of Mary at St. Anthony's Church in Cambridge, MA, where she volunteered, visiting the sick at hospitals and nursing homes for over 35 years. She will be sadly missed.  Due to the current health crisis in our world today, funeral service and burial will be private.  Memorial donations in Maria's memory may be made to  The Brain Tumor Research Center, c/o Development Office, Beth Israel Medical Center, 220 Brookline Ave., Boston, MA  02215.
