"Our mother was a ray of light.

Mom came to the US in 1972 and visited her cousins in Dover NH and Cambridge MA trying to figure out where to best raise her children.  In 1974 she immigrated over

to Cambridge, MA from Athens, Greece with her husband, Dimitrios, children Vickie and Peter without speaking a word of English.  Litsa's Greek name was Garifalia, for simplicity reasons she changed it in the late 80's.  She was an amazing seamstress in Greece, working on Wedding dresses, and many custom projects.  In the USA her number one priority was raising her children and giving them the best life and education possible.  Litsa worked in factories as a seamstress to help with the family budget.  Litsa loved to take on extra projects making custom clothes for herself , family and friends, a true designer.  Litsa loved to cook, her homemade food was famous.  She would whip up four different meals in a matter of minutes to satisfy everyone's cravings.  Family, friends would visit often to enjoy her infectious smile and the dishes of the day.  Her "tiganites" became a staple item at everyone's house party.  Litsa was the proudest mother who would do anything for her children, to her, her children were her life.  Litsa became a Grandmother and got to enjoy five beautiful grandchildren.  She loved celebrating their achievements, birthdays and Greek name days.   Litsa loved her vibrant garden aka "kypo",  dancing, hosting and visiting people.  Her charismatic personality will never be forgotten by anyone who knew her.  She was full of life till three years ago when she started having some balance issues which complicated her ability to get around.  Two years ago after many failed tests she was officially diagnosed with ALS, a terrible disease.  It took away her ability to dance, to walk, to cook, to host, to talk and eventually lost her life to it.  Mom smiled to the very end. Her happy eyes and  beautiful smile will live on in our hearts and with everyone that loved her. Mom, you made us the happiest kids in the world, your daily phone calls, your visits, your unconditional love will be a treasure that we will always have and remember.  Mom, aka, Shortee, you will always be in our hearts, our thoughts and our memories.  Mom, the imprint that you left on us will last until we meet again.  We, your children are forever yours and will miss your dearly."
