Lemonia
Fotiadis
January 1, 1955 – July 7, 2024
Dr. Lemonia Fotiadis, 69, of Wellesley, MA, passed away surrounded by her family on July 7, 2024. She was born in Florina, Greece to Paraskevas and Palassa (Mandoulidis) Fotiadis. Lemonia came to the United States in 1972. She attended Northeastern University and earned a Ph.D. in Physics and Mathematics. Initially, she worked in various research labs as a physicist, including stints with the Navy and Army, where she researched new materials for transistors. After her time with the Navy and Army, she returned to Boston and embarked on a new career in the IT field. She worked at the Massachusetts Public Health Department, Genzyme, and most recently at Sun Life Financial.
Lemonia loved animals, especially her four beloved pets: Elpida I, Elpida II, Leto, and Cleo. She cherished the ocean and enjoyed spending time at her home in Yarmouth. She also loved traveling to Hawaii. Lemonia had a green thumb and was one of the managers of public gardens in Wellesley, MA.She loved to cook, and her Greek cuisine was fabulous. She made the best pastitsio, bakalava and her apple pie still remains unmatched. She was constantly coming up with new ways to revitalize old recipes.
She is survived by her devoted mother, Palassa (Mandoulidis) Fotiadis. She was predeceased by her father, Paraskevas Fotiadis. She is also survived by her loving brother, Konstantinos Fotiadis and his wife, Efi Fotiadis and her nieces and nephews, Paraskevas Fotiadis, Palassa Katerina Fotiadis, Christina Fotiadis, and Paul Fotiadis. Also survived by her babies, Leto, Elpida and Cleo. She loved her family, and they were everything to her. She also had many other relatives and friends that she loved dearly.
She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, July 11, 2024 at St. Demetrios Greek Church, 57 Brown St., Weston, MA at 10:30AM. Visitation prior to the Service from 9:30AM to 10:30AM at the church. Relatives and friend are kindly invited to attend. In lieu of flowers donations in her memory may be made to German Shepherd Rescue of New England, Inc., P.O. Box 299, Wayland, MA 01778 or go to GSRNE.ORG.
Burial will be held in St. Mary's Cemetery, Needham, MA
