Larry Lee Jones(1943-2024)
A true southern gentleman, he loved nature, volunteering for WGBH and loved to volunteer cleaning up the Boston Harbor islands. Larry Lee Jones, 80, of Boston, died of complications from Covid, on August 25th, 2024.
Born in Wytheville, Virginia to Douglas and Marie Jones and brother to Warren Jones. Larry moved to Boston in 1977 to work as an Electrical Engineer at Draper Labs where he worked till he retired in 1999.
He was always known for being beyond prepared. He regularly ordered tools, supplies and food in quantities that would last a life time. Why buy one jar of peanut butter when you could order 3 cases? Why order one shovel when you could order 4 with 5 maintenance kits. Friends and his adopted family inevitably the recipients of his purchasing habits.
Larry had the driest sense of humor, it was tough to discern a joke from a wild request; although, frequently they walked the same line. If you happen to catch on and give him an equally preposterous reply, he would let out the biggest belly shaking giggle. So much so that his coworkers nicknamed him the Pillsbury doughboy because of his animated laugh and sweet personality. He will be missed.
A private celebration of life will be held on August 29, 2024.
