On the morning of Tuesday, the 25th of February 2025, Katerina Bilis passed away peacefully at the age of 90 with family at her bedside. She was born on Christmas Eve, 1934, in Epirus, Greece, the fourth of five siblings. She would eventually migrate to the United States with her husband Stefanos and their two children, and it is here where she came to be known to her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and countless friends simply as Nana.

This name of affection and respect embodied all she was as a person - a comforter, protector, and in many ways the very personification of the word "love." She was a true matriarch to both her immediate and extended family. Her great passion outside of the family came in her tireless devotion and commitment through her countless hours of volunteer time to the Saint Athanasius the Great Greek Orthodox Church of Arlington.

Here, with her many close friends, she helped preserve and pass down customs, traditions and values that still resonate down through multiple generations.

She is survived by her two children (Georgia and Arthur), and their spouses (Zaharias and Kimberly), four grandchildren (John, her namesake Katerina, Bianca and Stefan), the spouses of her two eldest grandchildren (Monique and Peter), four great grandchildren (Sophia, Zachary, Violette and Anthony), and the love and gratitude of numerous nieces and nephews for the love, joy and comfort she brought to their lives.

The funeral service will take place at 11AM on Tuesday, March 4, 2025 at St. Athanasius the Great Greek Orthodox Church, 4 Appleton St., Arlington, MA. Visitation prior to the Funeral Service will take place at the church from 9:30AM to 11AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. The burial will take place at the Gardens Cemetery, 670 Baker St., West Roxbury, MA.
