Joyce Karimbakas (Kalton) was born July 19, 1940 in Somerville, MA. She was the youngest of five children of John and Nora Kalton (Chacklis). She was the valedictorian of her class at Somerville High School and went on to earn a business degree from Simmons College. After college, she was employed in retail and insurance before stopping work to raise her children. She returned to work after her children were grown and spent the remainder of her career in the MasterCard department at Cambridge Trust Company retiring in 2003. While vacationing in Greece in the summer of 1965, she met then Lieutenant Christos Karimbakas of Roxbury, MA at a party at the Hilton Hotel in Athens. They were married on October 26, 1969. She enjoyed reading, sports, and spending time with her husband and family especially her sisters Mary and Helen. She was the beloved wife of Christos Karimbakas and loving mother of Joanne Karimbakas and her husband Richard Bonnette and Charles Karimbakas and his wife Maria. She was the grandmother to Olivia and Nora Bonnette and Emily and Kate Karimbakas. She was cherished sister to Mary Sarandis and her husband George, Andrew Kalton and his wife Pauline and the late Helen Pappas and George Kalton. She was dear sister-in-law to Jim and Frances Karimbakas and Jim and Anna Tsikouris. She is also survived many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Visitation at the Faggas Funeral Home 551 Mt. Auburn Street Watertown on Wednesday January 23, 2013 from 4:00-8:00 pm. In lieu of flowers donations in her memory may be made to the Patrick Swayze Pancreas Cancer Research Fund, Stanford Cancer Center, Develoopment Office, 2700 Sand Hill Road, Menlo Park, CA 94025. Funeral service at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral of New England, 514 Parker St. Boston, MA on Thursday January 24, 2013 at 10:00 am. Interment at the Highland Meadow Cemetery in Belmont, MA.
