Obituary

John J. Primes was born on June 28, 1949 in Boston, MA to the late James and Helen (Jenis) Primes. He was christened and later tonsured by Archbishop Iakovas at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Boston. John was active at the church serving as head altar boy and various positions in GOYA. He was a graduate of both Boston English High School and Burdette College. After graduation, John joined the Massachusetts National Guard where he attained the rank of Staff Sergeant. His business degree propelled him into a career as a Buyer/Broker in the Produce Industry. He was a long time member of the Produce Growers Association and was a past district manager for Sunkist and Dole companies. He was past Vice President of the Watertown Taxiarchae Greek Orthodox Church and instrumental in the fund raising projects for their present community center. His hobby was his prized 1957 Chevy BelAir 2 door which he enjoyed so much with his son, Jimmy. John was very traditional and family oriented and had a deep love for his son, Joanne, brothers and their wives, aunts, uncles, niece, nephews, God children and supportive friends. The doctors and nurses at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute said that John was a very special man whom everyone took an immediate liking to, respected and admired. They felt that he was an extraordinary patient who showed extreme courage through his lengthy traveled journey, which only few could endure with his type of cancer. John J.
