Obituary

John I. Meyer of Newton, Massachusetts (formerly St. Louis, Mo.) passed March 1 at 8 pm. Mr. Meyer was a former Vice President of the large international architectural and engineering firm of Sverdrup & Parcel, Inc. His design projects included major sports arenas and many government and NASA related structures as well as some of the larger initial Saudi Arabian ministry buildings. Mr. Meyer was a decorated airman in the service of his country in both the Second World War and the Korean Conflict. His work in helping to develop sophisticated radar technologies and his airborne combat implementations were important to the success of his many missions. His beautifully crafted autobiography of his early military career "The Wartime Odyssey of a Radar Officer" gives great insight into his life and times. John I Meyer was the beloved husband of 67yrs. to Bertha (Bles) of Benton, Mo. and the loving father of his three children: Pamela Meyer Love of Dallas, Texas; Linda Meyer Hamill of Farmington, Mo. and John I. Meyer, Jr of Newton, Massachusetts. He was Grandfather to 9 : Anna Love Usry, Kathryn Love and Daniel Love of Dallas,Tx.; Andrew Hamill, Clara Hamill and Patrick Joseph Hamill of Farmington, Mo.; and Diana Meyer Dunn of Sarasota, Fl. , and John and Henry Meyer of Boston, Ma. He was the Great Grandfather of 3: Landon Usry, Ellis Usry and Kylie Love Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, March 6th at 10:00am at St. Denis's Church in Benton, Mo.. A one hour viewing will be held at the church prior to Mass and interment will immediately follow services. Friends are welcome to attend a celebration of his life at The Auburn Hotel, Cape Girardeau, Mo. following interment.
