John George Chalas, 84, of Winchester, Massachusetts passed away on February 18, 2011 at Woodbriar of Wilmington, Massachusetts. He was born in Boston, Massachusetts to George and Diana (Primpas) Chalapatas. He grew up in Boston, Massachusetts. He attended Boston Latin School. He attended MIT where he earned his BS in Civil Engineering. He later attended Northeastern University where he earned his Masters Degree in Civil Engineering. He was drafted into the WWII. He served in the US Navy. He married Ann Pernokas in 1954. He was a Senior Vice President at Metcalf & Eddy for 50 years. He was a past president of the parish council at the Greek Orthodox Church Taxiarchae. He is survived by his beloved wife Ann (Pernokas) Chalas. Devoted father of George J. Chalas and his wife Dianna and Stephanie Stafford and her husband Gary. Loving Papou of John Chalas and Andrew Chalas. Loving Brother of Evelyn "Effie" DeBenedetto. He was predeceased by his parents and his siblings Costa and James Chalas. He is also survived by many nieces,nephews,relatives and friends. He was a devoted husband and father. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 28, 2011 at 9:30 am in the Greek Orthodox Church Taxiachae, 25 Bigelow Avenue, Watertown, Massachusetts. Friends and relatives are kindly invited to attend. Interment Wildwood Cemetery, Winchester, Mass. He was also a late Mason.
