Dr. Javad Shamsai, aged 92, passed away on August 30, 2018, of cancer. Javad was born in Tehran, Iran, and immigrated to the United States in 1959, where he lived in Weston, Massachusetts, retired to Boxford, Massachusetts, and spent his final years in New York City. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Holly, who died in 2015. He is survived by his three children, Peri, Heather and Bennett, and their wonderful spouses, and his seven grandchildren, Hayden, Kyra, Weston, Henley, Berkeley, Emma and Danielle, as well as his much loved brothers, Syrus Madavi, Mehdi and Hossein Shamsai, sister, Mahin Motesharei, and brother-in-law, John T. Townsend. Javad was an anesthesiologist and was Chief of Anesthesia at the Marlborough Hospital for many years before moving to The Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, MA, for the last 25 years of his career. Javad spent the last decade of his life caring patiently and tirelessly for his dear wife as she was lost to dementia. He was known to everyone as a principled, loyal, honest, compassionate and highly intelligent man who loved his family above all else. Javad was interred, in accordance with his wishes, in Linwood Cemetery in Weston, MA, in accordance with Muslim traditions.
