James "Jimmy" Skentzos's Obituary

James George Skentzos passed away unexpectedly on March 6, 2026.

He was the beloved son of Peter J. Skentzos of Placida, FL, and Christine Skentzos of Tewksbury, MA. He was the dear nephew of Constance Karatheodore of Reading, MA, loving cousin of John Karatheodore of St. Charles, IL, Stacia Karatheodore of North Andover, MA, Daphne Snow of Wilmington, NC, Vasiliki Diamantis of Bratenahl, OH, Marie Geannaris, Jordan Geannaris, and George Geannaris of Reading, MA.

James, affectionately known as Jimmy, was raised north of Boston and graduated from Salem High School. He went on to become a master barber, a profession he loved deeply. Cutting hair was more than a job to Jimmy—it was an art and a calling. He took great pride in his work and was working alongside his father toward a shared dream of opening a barbershop of his own.

Jimmy was known for his great sense of humor and his love of movies. His easygoing nature and genuine personality made him someone people naturally enjoyed being around.

Jimmy shared an especially close bond with his mother, whose love and support were a constant presence in his life. As an only child, he held a uniquely close relationship with both of his parents, and family meant everything to him.

Over the past two years, Jimmy spent cherished time in Placida, Florida, with his father, enjoying the warmth and creating meaningful memories together.

Jimmy will be remembered for the pride he took in his work and the laughter he brought to those around him with his sense of humor. His love for family and friends was constant and genuine, and the memories he leaves behind will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Jimmy’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, an organization he would have appreciated in support of loved ones we have lost and those facing cancer today.

A private funeral service will be held to honor Jimmy’s life.
