James Kokoros passed away peacefully on May 31 ^st , 2021, at the age of 80, in his hometown of Belmont, Ma surrounded by his loving family.

James leaves behind his beloved wife of more than 51 years, Vaso Kokoros. He was the loving and devoted father of George Kokoros and his wife Kelley Kokoros of Belmont, MA and Melanie Lemay and her husband Scott Lemay of Weston, MA.

He was the proud and adoring grandfather of Demitri Kokoros, Christian Kokoros, Ava Kokoros, Vasilia Lemay and Evangelina Lemay.

James was a hairdresser in Needham, MA for almost 50 years, where he owned and operated Jimmy's Coiffures Salon with his wife.  His charm and authentic personality built loyal customers and friends for many years.

Jimmy immigrated from Gourani, Greece outside of Sparta with his immediate family in 1956.  He was very proud of his Greek heritage and enjoyed traveling with family to Greece as well as spending time at his home on Cape Cod.  Jimmy loved to tend to his garden and spend time with close friends every Monday at the Greek American Political Club.

Jimmy could be heard playing the bouzouki and piano with his grandchildren by his side. James would never miss a weekend dropping off fresh garden vegetables and groceries for his children.  "Dad, please we don't need any more bananas!"

He also is survived by his sister Alexandra Lappas and her husband James Lappas of Waltham, MA, Nicky Kokoros of Watertown, MA, Toula Goutzianis of Athens, Greece and many loving nieces, nephews and relatives here and in Greece.  He is predeceased by siblings Maria Stratakos, Christos Kokoros, Nick Kokoros, John Kokoros, and Steve Kokoros.

Funeral Service will be held on Thursday June 3, 2021 at the Taxiarchae Greek Orthodox Church, 25 Bigelow Ave., Watertown, MA at 10AM to attend the service virtually please go to https://www.goarchangels.org/funeralstream and the password will be Kokoros .  Visitation prior to the service from 9AM to 10AM at the church. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend.  In lieu of flowers, donations in James' memory may be made to Massachusetts General Hospital, MGH Development Office, c/o The Thoracic Research Center, 55 Fruit St., Boston, MA 02114 or to the above-named church.  Burial will be held in Mt. Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge, MA.
