Iosif Giogas passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 4, surrounded by family. He was born in Foustani (Macedonia), Greece and emigrated to the US with his wife and children in 1973. He built a fulfilling life, working as a donut baker, sneaker repairer (New Balance) and lastly as a handyman. He was happiest working with his hands and tending to his grape vines, fruit trees, gardens and even chickens as well as spending time with his family.
Iosif leaves behind his loving wife, Vasiliki, to whom he was married for 62 years; his daughter, Anastasia Vakalfotis and her husband Thomas of Burlington; daughter, Sofia Stefanis and her husband Pantelis of Belmont and son, Christos Giogas and his wife Valarie of Burlington. He also leaves behind his eight grandchildren: Diamanto, Costa, Vasili, Josif, Ryan, Nicolette, Elaine and Costa as well as his two great grandchildren, Yianni and Anastasia.
He was predeceased by his parents, Christos and Anastasia (Tzokos) Giogas And his siblings; Sophia Papadopoulos, Popi Kandaras, George Giogas and Themistocles Giogas
Funeral Service will be held on Monday, August 10, 2026 at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Woburn MA at 11:00 AM. Visitation prior to the Service from 9:30 to 11:00 AM at the church. Burial will be at Ridgelawn Cemetery, Watertown, MA. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend.
