On November 14, 2015, Hope (Avtgis) Tragakis, age 100, passed away peacefully. Hope was born August 6, 1915 in Watertown, MA. She was the oldest of 5 children of William and Pelaia Avtgis, late of Watertown MA. She married James Tragakis in 1937 and had two children : Christopher, and William. She was also a long time member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Hope and Jim also spent much time at their Cape Cod cottage in Dennis and played golf there frequently at the Dennis Golf courses. Hope also loved to paint, and along with several friends and neighbors, participated for many years in a monthly painting group. Her many paintings are now the prized possessions of her six grandchildren. In August, Hope celebrated her 100th birthday with her sons, daughters-in-law, and a number of her loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Hope's beloved husband of almost 70 years, James, predeceased her. She is survived by her two sons, Colonel Christopher Tragakis and wife, Charlotte of Springfield, VA; William Tragakis and wife Lesley Shore of Medfield, MA; her beloved sister, Helen Stavros of Millis; her youngest brother, Alexander Avtgis of Watertown.
