Helen B Fanandakis's Obituary

Helen B. Fanandakis passed away peacefully at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth, Mass. on Wednesday, May 8, 2019.  Born in Boston to Charles and Eva (Constance) Marinakis, she grew up in West Roxbury, MA with her two sisters, Mary Courtney of Westwood, MA and the late Agnes Sakellson of New York.  She met and fell in love with her handsome husband, George Fanandakis at the Ritz Carlton and they were married on August 31, 1952.  They moved to Norwood, MA where they raised their daughter, Frances Clairmont, D.M.D., of Norwell and the son Nicholas Fanandakis of Kennett Square, PA.  No words can describe the love, humor, passion, and energy Helen gave not only to her family, but also to all that knew her.  She was always giving to others, putting others needs before her own, like no one else could.  Her love and dedication to her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were unsurpassed and she was always so proud of their accomplishments.  In addition to her love for the children, she also adored all animals especially dogs and horses and they always loved her.  When she became a talented hairstylist, she would routinely volunteer her services to all those who asked.  She loved to play the piano and never lost that talent.  Preparing delicious meals and desserts for her family, friends and neighbors was another one of her passions.  No one ever left her home hungry or unhappy.  Her quick wit and humor was evident right to the very end and she will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her.

She was the beloved wife of the late George Fanandakis.  Loving mother of Frances Clairmont, D.M.D. and her husband, George Clairmont, M.D., of Norwell; Nicholas Fanandakis, CFO of Dupont, and his wife Rosemary of Kennett Square, PA; second mother to Karen Narkiewicz of Sharon.  Cherished grandmother of Katherine (Clairmont) Cunningham and her husband Derek; Nicole Fanandakis; and Mathew Fanandakis and his wife Noel. Endeared great grandmother of Mya Clair Cunningham; Katie and Emma Murphy; and Adelaide Bader and Gerard Ford Fanandakis.  Dear Sister of Mary Courtney of Westwood, and the late Agnes Sakellson and her late husband Fr. Phillip Sakellson of New York.  Also survived by brother-in-law John Fanandakis and his wife Angie; nephew Stanley Sakellson and his wife Vasso; and nieces Barbara Gableman and her husband Fred, Frances (Fanendakis) Eldridge and her husbnd Frank, and Catherine Fanandakis Alexander and her husband Jimmy.
