Helen (Makrys) Alexis, of West Newton, passed away December 8, 2025, just short of her 105th birthday. She was the beloved wife of the late Nicholas Alexis who died in 2014. She was born in Malden on December 26, 1920, to her late parents, Apostle and Photene (Cantelis) Makrys. Her family later settled in Concord.

Helen worked for the Waltham Watch Company and Raytheon. Following her marriage, Helen made her home in West Newton where she and Nick owned a successful tailoring business, Alexis Tailoring, for over 40 years.

Proud of her Greek heritage, Helen traveled to Greece several times and enjoyed Greek dancing and cuisine. She was an active member of St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Weston. Helen will be remembered for her outgoing personality, good sense of humor and her ability to tell a good story.

Helen was predeceased by her sister Christine Straggas and her niece Cynthia Straggas. She is survived by her nieces and nephews Constance Straggas of Concord, Catherine Dedo and her husband Drew of Philadelphia, PA, Jonathan Straggas of Concord, Christina Perri and her husband John of Chula Vista, CA, Peter Scarlatos and his wife Catherine of Melrose, and Elizabeth Raptis of Roslindale. Helen will be missed by her great nieces and great nephews along with many other relatives and friends. With gratitude to cherished friends Steve Copper, Jeanne Corey and Theresa Beach.

Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, December 16,2025 at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 57 Brown Street, Weston, MA at 10AM. There will be a brief visitation prior to the funeral service from 9AM to 10AM at the church. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Helen's memory may be made to St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church.
