Dr. Gregory Lazarides passed away peacefully in his sleep on October 18 th , 2022. Born in Batum, Georgia to Anastasios and Nymfodora Lazarides, Gregory was the third of 6 children, comprising a family whose closeness and dedication to each other was unparalleled. At the age of four he traveled to Athens with his family in the midst of World War II. Shortly after, they moved to Ptolemaida where he attended school, later graduating from the University of Athens with a degree in Medicine. Gregory then traveled to the United States to complete his medical training at Wayne State University in Detroit, MI, specializing in internal medicine. He had a long career as a physician in Massachusetts and was well-liked and respected by his colleagues and patients. He was extremely close to his brother and sisters and his four loving children. During his youth, he wrote many poems and was an avid lover of philosophy. He could often be found fishing with his brother John and friend George, or in his garden-he had a prolific green thumb and was especially proud to have grown a full-sized watermelon in the New England climate. He enjoyed frequent visits from his sisters Helen, Sophia, and Dorothea, as well as his longtime friend, Jerry. In his later years, he lived with his loving and devoted friend, Kaity. Even after suffering from memory loss, his wisdom, sense of humor, and love for his family was evident. He will be greatly missed. Loving father of Katarina Lazarides- Zwirner & her husband Torbert, Anastasios Lazarides, and Efthemia and Alexandra Lazarides. Brother of Helen Lazarides, John Lazarides, Sophia Alexandrides & her late husband Peter, Dorothea Nazos & her late husband Dimitri, and Avgi Tsirozidou & her late husband Ioannis.
