Katsikis
August 8, 1959 – June 27, 2019
Georgia Katsikis passed away on the morning of June 27th, 2019 in Middleton, Massachusetts at the age of 59, surrounded by her loving family, after a long, hard-fought battle with cancer. She is survived by her devoted husband of 32 years, Haralambos "Bobby" Katsikis of Middleton, Massachusetts, her beloved children, daughter Marjorie (Katsikis) and her husband George Kotzamanis of Wakefield, Massachusetts, son Nikolaos "Niko" Katsikis of Malden, Massachusetts, parents Peter and Anna (Kalantzis) Giannopoulos of Arlington, Massachusetts, brother John Giannopoulos and his wife Jean of East Hampstead, New Hampshire, their children, Greg Brouck of East Hampstead, New Hampshire, Lindsey (Giannopoulos) and her husband Justin Antoon of Methuen, Massachusetts, Christina Giannopoulos, Julie Giannopoulos, and Alexis Giannopoulos of East Hampstead, New Hampshire. Additionally, Georgia is survived by many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Georgia was born in Athens, Greece and immigrated with her family to America in 1966. She grew up in the Greater Boston area and graduated with a Bachelor's of Science from Boston University in 1981. She started her career in Advertising, before marrying her husband and starting a family. Georgia returned to work as a computer teacher in the Parochial school system to pursue her passion in helping others. She would go on to teach for up to 20 years, and most recently earned the Ecumenical Athletic Association's, "Teacher of the Year Award" for her work at Immaculate Conception School in Lowell, Massachusetts.
Along with her interest in helping others, Georgia found great passion in the Arts, regularly visiting art museums, collecting works during her travels, and even bringing her passion to life by creating her own works of art right at home.
Georgia was a loving mother, daughter, sister, godmother, aunt, cousin, and friend who would always open her home and heart to her friends and family. Remembered as "Mrs. K" by her students, she exhibited compassion, devotion, and genuine care for their development and well-being.
In honor of her life's work and in lieu of flowers, her family requests a donation in her name be made to Immaculate Conception School, 218 E Merrimack Street, Lowell, Massachusetts, 01852.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 1, 2019 at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral of New England, 514 Parker St., Boston, MA at 10AM. Burial to follow at Forest Hills Cemetery. Visiting Hours will be held on Sunday, June 30, 2019 at the Mackey Funeral Home, 128 S. Main St., Middleton, MA 01949 from 2PM to 6PM. Relatives and friends kindly invited to attend.
