Giogas
September 20, 1937 – March 22, 2023
George Giogas, 85, of Watertown, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on March, 22nd, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Beloved husband of Athina (Kazakidis) Giogas. Devoted father of Christos Giogas and his wife Erica, Tula Mandilas and her husband Demetrios, Rula DeOliveira and her husband Monteiro. Cherished papou to Katherine, Nicholas, Jeremy, Alexander, Ayanna and Logan. Brother of Josif and Vaso Giogas, the late Sophia Papadopoulos, the late Popi Kandaras and the late Themis Giogas. Beloved brother in-law of Demetrios and Tula Zlatkos. Loving Theo to many nieces and nephews here and in Greece as well as many friends and relatives.
George was born in Foustani, Greece. He served in the Greek military before he met his beloved wife Athina. In 1973, George and his family migrated from Greece to Watertown to be with his siblings and family and provide a better life for his children. He was a hard worker and made many sacrifices for his family. He cherished every moment with his grandchildren, who were his pride and joy. Together he and Athina were married for 59 years.
A funeral service will be held at the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church, 70 Montvale Ave, Woburn on Monday, March 27, at 11:00 am. Two hours of visitation will be held at the church, prior to the service from 9:00-11:00 am. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Burial will be at Ridgelawn Cemetery, Watertown, Massachusetts.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in George's memory to the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church, 70 Montvale Ave., Woburn, MA 01801
