Genes, George N., of Wellesley Mass. passed away peacefully in his home on Monday, May 18. 2015. He was 88 years of age. He was the beloved son of Nicholas and Lefcula (Damascos) Genes, and brother of the late Esmine. George is survived by his devoted wife of 52 years, Maria Genes of Wellesley, and his loving son Nicholas and his wife Jennifer of New York City, along with other relatives and friends. George was born on May 28. 1926 in Vresthena, Greece. He immigrated to the United States as an infant and was raised in Boston. He was a graduate of the Boston English High School and then served in the US Army during WWII. After the war, George studied at Tufts University where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry. George made his career as an engineer for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and retired after 50 years of service. In 1962, George married Maria Solomos and eventually settled in Wellesley. George will be remembered for his kindness, patience, but most of all, as an extraordinary husband and father Funeral Service scheduled for Friday, May 22, 2015 at 11am at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 57 Brown St., Weston, Mass. There will be a brief visitation prior to the Service, from 10- 11am at the church. Relatives and friends kindly invited to attend. Internment at Forest Hills Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to St. Demetrios Church.
