George G.
Delyani
March 29, 1931 – January 18, 2024
George G. Delyani of Arlington, MA passed away peacefully on January 18, 2024. Dear husband of Joanne for 62 years, father of Costas, Angelike and Nicholas (Monica), brother of James (Harriet), Athena (Ronald) and Anthony (Joyce), grandfather to Joshua, David, Devin and Jacob, and uncle to many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. As the oldest of his siblings, George loved family foremost, spending lots of time with his sister and brothers (all who predeceased him) and their children and grandchildren and hosted many events and holidays with Joanne at his home, where he always welcomed visitors, whether related or not, to share time and food together. George was very proud of being Greek and active in the Greek Orthodox Church throughout his life, and it was a joy for him to attend services weekly, serve as the Sunday School Director for many years, and help the priest in both the altar and the office. Greek culture was very important to George his entire life – he could read and speak Greek, loved sharing history and customs with his grandchildren, and especially enjoyed listening to Greek music and dancing at happy events, including festivals and weddings. He worked as an engineer at Raytheon for 36 years and was a veteran of the Korean War and always loved and appreciated living in the United States. Most of all, he was an incredibly loving and patient Papou to his grandchildren and father to his children. He will be forever missed and was a loving, gentle soul. Funeral services on Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at 11 am in the Taxiarchae Greek Orthodox Church, 25 Bigelow Ave., Watertown, MA. Visitation will be held in the church prior to the services from 10-11 am. Burial in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery ,Arlington, MA. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory maybe made to the above named church or to the Parkinson's Foundation.
