With sadness, yet great hope in the Resurrection, we announce the falling asleep in the Lord of GEORGE N. BRATSIS
George N. Bratsis, 81, of West Roxbury, MA, passed away peacefully on April 24 ,2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Parthena Bratsis with whom he shared 48 years of marriage and father to sons; Niko and Savva.
He is survived by his younger brother and sister, Ioannis and Elpiniki, and was predeceased by his siblings, Markos and Evangelos. He also leaves behind his sister-in-law, Panagiota, along with his beloved nieces and nephews.
George was born in Northern Epirus, Greece, to Areti and Nikolas Bratsis. At just 10 months old, he and his two older brothers were carried to safety by their mother as the family fled the oppressive Hoxha regime, crossing into northern Greece and settling in Ioannina. Nine years later, the family emigrated to the United States and made their home in the Boston area, where he later met and married Parthena Savvides.
He was deeply devoted to his family, his heritage, and his work. For more than 40 years at The 57 Restaurant, he connected with countless people and left a lasting impression on all who knew him. A passionate supporter of all things Greek, his love for his patrida was unmatched. As an avid reader of Greek history, he took great pride in sharing his knowledge—always eager to educate, engage in discussion, and, when the moment called for it, spiritedly defend the depth of his Greek pride.
George’s personality was larger than life. He was loved by all for his generosity, kind heart, and always giving of himself without hesitation. He cherished his friendships and found joy in sharing his passions—Greek music and Greek food—and, above all, the rich culture of his homeland.
Visitation and funeral details are available below, and please keep the entire family in your prayers during this difficult time. May his memory be eternal!
We pray the Lord grants rest to his soul in the place of the righteous, where there is no pain, no sorrow, no sighing, but life everlasting.
