Garifalia Martinos of Watertown, MA, 85 years old, died peacefully of natural causes on June 19, 2016. Born in Boston, MA on January 20, 1931 to the late Dimitrios M. Martinos and Angelike (Housseas) Martinos. As the eldest daughter and one of six children of Greek immigrants who arrived on Ellis Island in the early 1900s, she was a loving and devoted daughter, sister, niece, and aunt. She graduated Cambridge High and Latin School in 1949 and Bentley University with highest honors in 1961. For much of her career, she was a civilian accountant at Hanscom Air Force Base, Finance Office. During her retirement years, Garifalia enjoyed spending time with family and friends and volunteered at the Taxiarchae Greek Orthodox Church of Watertown, MA. Loving sister of Anastasia and her husband Constantinos Kefalas, Evangeline and her husband Emanuel Kariadakis, Peter D. Martinos and his wife Marilyn, the late Martin D. Martinos and his wife Irene, and the late George D. Martinos and his wife JoAnne. Devoted aunt of Dimitrios Martinos, Lillian Nikolaidis, Mark Martinos, Denise Cormier, James Martinos, Billinda Allen, Sophia Morin, Cheryl Kerstgens, Peter Martinos, Jr., Phillip Martinos, Steven Martinos, the late Michael Martinos, Angelike Kefalas, Peter Kefalas, Francine Nisbet, and Rosanne Coric. Also survived by many grand nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.
