Evelyn (Atsales) Alex of Lexington died peacefully on Saturday, September 19, 2020, just days before her 96 ^th birthday, and the day after what would have been her 71 ^st Wedding Anniversary. She is predeceased by her husband, Peter Alex, who died in 2010.

Evelyn was born in Boston. She married Peter in 1949 and they eventually settled in Lexington where they raised their two sons, Nicholas and Thomas.

Evelyn was originally a member of the Annunciation Cathedral in Boston, then the Dormition Church in Somerville, and her final years were as a member of the Taxiarchae Church in Watertown, where she loved to sit with the Choir as an "honorary" member. She enjoyed taking part in the choir's social activities, and was loved by all of them in return.

Evelyn is survived by her loving sons, Nicholas and his wife Cynthia (Mitaras), and Thomas. She was the devoted Yiayia of Katie Alex Patterson and her husband, Russell, Peter Alexopoulos and his wife Ann, John Alex and his wife April, Evelyn Alex and Peter T. Alex.

Big Yiayia Evelyn was much loved and cherished by her eight great-grandchildren: Anthony, Nicholas and Christina Patterson; Aphrodite, Cynthia and Lillian Alexopoulos; Claire and Grace Alex.

Evelyn is survived by her brother, Father Peter Atsales of Naples, FL, and her sister-in-law Frances Fyfe, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings Helen (Peter) Poulakis, James (Livia) Atsales and Jeanne (Constantine) Lucas and her sister-in-law, Presbytera Lukia Atsales. Evelyn was the daughter of the late Athansios and Politeme Atsales.Funeral Service on Saturday, September 26, 2020 at Taxiarchae Greek Orthodox Church, 25 Bigelow Avenue, Watertown, MA at 10AM.  There will be a brief visitation at church from 9AM to 10AM.
