Eugenia (Bourikas) Aggouras of W.Yarmouth and formerly of Arlington, MA, passed away on March 26, 2020, at the age of 92. Beloved wife of the late Anthony Aggouras. Devoted mother of Nicholas Aggouras and his wife Barbara, Charles Aggouras and his wife Lisa and George Aggouras and his wife Karen.  Cherished Yiayia of Jeanne, Anthony N., Edward, Alexis, Andrew, Madelyn, Catherine, and Anthony G. Aggouras. Sister of the late Vasili Bourikas and his wife Maria, the late Julia Skopas and her late husband James, the late Ioannis Bourikas and  his wife Rodoula, the late Dimitris Bourikas and his late wife Eleni, the late Kalliopi Savoglou and her late husband Theodoros, the late Angeliki Athanassopoulos and her late husband Ioannis, the late Katina Stevens, the late Ourania Angelopoulos and her late husband Leonidas and her late sister Helen Bourikas.  Sister in law to Demetra Sparages and her husband James, and Katina Kalivas and her husband Panagioti.  Also survived by many l oving nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends here and in Greece.

Eugenia was born in Eva, Kalamata, Greece, where she grew up under Nazi occupation during WWII.  As a young girl in Greece, she was tasked with raising her younger sibling under the poverty and depression of the war and struggled to survive.  Those hardships during her youth helped forge a neverending tenacity and love of family that would stay with her for all of her life.

She left Greece for the United States in 1955 with her sister Julia and began work as a seamstress.  She traveled back a few years later where she would meet her devoted and loving husband, Anthony.  They married in 1961 and returned to the states where they would start their family, which would be the focus of the rest of their lives.

Eventually, Eugenia and Anthony saved enough money to start a small market in Cambridge with her brother Vasili.  Later they opened Anthony's Greek Market in Central Square, which became a mainstay of the local Greek and American community for decades until they sold it in 1981.  However, their retirement did not last long.  In 1985 they opened a new market with their three sons called A&A Convenience Store on Mass. Ave in Arlington.  The family business was sold in 2005, several years after Eugenia and Anthony finally retired to devote their time to family, friends and their garden where they spent most of their time in Florida or Cape Cod.

Eugenia now joins her deceased husband and siblings that rest in peace.

Her funeral and burial will be held in private and a memorial service will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Caring for a Cure , Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance or the National Ovarian Cancer Association.
