Diane Chiochios of Watertown died peacefully Sunday, April 27, 2014 with her family by her side after a year-long struggle valiantly battling cancer. Diane was born in Vassara, Greece in 1929 to Haralambos and Maria Kanelos. She immigrated to America by way of Canada in 1958 where she wed Zoe Chiochios of Watertown, Massachusetts in December of the same year. She was the beloved mother to George Z. Chiochios and Mary Chiochios. Diane was proud to become a Citizen of the United States of America . Unwavering in her religious beliefs, Diane was a devout parishioner of the Taxiarchae/Archangels Greek Orthodox Church of Watertown. She was a veteran member of The Greek Orthodox Ladies Philoptochos Society aiding anyone who may have needed the help of the Church through philanthropic endeavors. Diane was an exceptionally talented tailor and seamstress. Her clientele traveled far and wide to seek her services. Her strong entrepreneurial spirit and drive to succeed led her to become the proprietor of Diane's Tailoring And Alterations located in Belmont. She sold her business and retired in 2004. Like many who left the village of Vassara for a better life, Diane never forgot her roots. She revisited many times and encouraged her children to do the same. Diane Chiochios will be missed and may she remain in peace.
