Demetra “Tula” (Hatzigiorgio) Ohannesian, of Watertown, MA,  passed away on February 20, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Thessaloniki, Greece to the late Giorgio and Vasiliki Hatzigiorgio. She came to America in 1959 and the family made their home in Cambridge, MA. She later moved to Watertown, MA and raised her daughter, Tina.  

Tula loved preparing her delicious greek delicacies for her grandsons.  She enjoyed watching Greek Television, playing cards and listening to the Greek Radio Program.  She was always dressed perfectly and took care of herself. She would go to the hair salon weekly. She was a devout Orthodox Christian and loved her Greek Heritage. 

She was the beloved wife of John Ohannesian. Devoted mother of Tina Elizabeth Morimoto. Loving Yiayia of Stephen Akian and his wife Varteni, and Alex Akian. She was predeceased parents, Girogia and Vasiliki Hatzigiorgio and her siblings; Sophia, Taki, Veta, Eleni and Artemis. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends here and in Greece.

She will be missed dearly by her family and friends.  May Her Memory Be Eternal.

Funeral Service will take place on Friday, February 27, 2026 at Taxiarchae Greek orthodox Church, 25 Bigelow Avenue, Watertown, MA at 10:30AM. Visitation Prior to the Service from 9:30AM to 10:30AM at the church. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the above named church.
