Damon Robert
Vrettos
September 22, 1970 – May 31, 2025
The Vrettos and Patsiokostas families are heartbroken to share that Damon Robert Vrettos, born on September 22, 1970, passed away unexpectedly on May 31, 2025 at his home.
Damon will be forever missed by the love of his life, Rina Patsiokostas, their children Evalina and Lila, her mother, Helen, and the entire Patsiokostas family and his faithful dog, Mr Henry.
He was the beloved son of Janet Vrettos of Durham, NH, and Greg Vrettos, who predeceased him. He was the cherished brother to Adrienne Vrettos Salane of Brooklyn, NY, brother-in-law to Jeff Salane, uncle to Wren and Desmond, and a beloved member of his large extended family.
In addition to his family, Damon leaves behind a community of friends that spans the world, made through his travels, his work, his school, and his smile.
Damon moved with his family to Lake Arrowhead, CA in 1977, where he enjoyed exploring the mountain forests, riding Big Wheels, family camping trips, and getting into the sort of mischief with his friends that makes for hilarious campfire stories.
It was in Lake Arrowhead that Damon first discovered a love of photography and music that would lead to his career and lifelong love of the arts.
After the family moved to Harvard, MA, in 1984, Damon became part of a circle of devoted friends, many of whom remain close to this day. Together, they've lived a whole new set of campfire stories.
Damon attended Salem State University for photography and music and received a bachelor's degree in Fine Arts.
From there, Damon's travels took him across the country and around the world, exploring and photographing places near and far, making friends every step along the way, and delighting his parents, sister, family, and friends with stories upon his return.
It is with a heavy heart that we share the memories of Damon, who touched our lives in profound ways. He met his partner, Rina Patsicostas, in the workplace, and what began as a professional relationship soon blossomed into a beautiful love story. Together, they created a life filled with joy, laughter, and unwavering support.
Damon embraced his role as a father figure to Rina's children, Lila and Evalina, with grace and dedication. His love for them was evident in every moment they shared, and he brought warmth and stability to their lives. The bond they formed was a testament to his character and the depth of his affection.
