Obituary

Christopher J. Soris,95, of Newton, formerly of Watertown and Portsmouth, New Hampshire, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2009 at Belmont Manor Nursing Home of complications from Alzheimers Disease. He was born on June 26, 1914 in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He was the son of the late. John and Julia (Mellios) Soris. He grew up in Cambridge, Mass. In 1942 he entered the US Army /Air Corp in Ft. Devens, Mass. He fought during WWII in the Battle of Central Pacific . He was a Radar Operator. He was injured and received an Asiatic Pacific Theatre Medal as well as a Good Conduct Medal. He was discharged from the Army in 1948. He was married to Olympia "Libby" Trefon in 1945. They resided in Cambridge, Watertown and Newton through their married life. They spent winters in Tarpon Springs, Florida and summers in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. After the death of his wife, Olympia, he lived in Newton, Mass for many years. He loved reading and watching golf on television. He was a wonderful, kind and gentle spirited man. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. He was a member of the Amicable Lodge of Mason's in Cambridge, MA. He is survived by his Loving Niece and caretaker, Elaine C. Clark and also Christine Lawdis. Also survived by many relatives and friends.
