Christine Dragotakes, of Boston, MA, passed away on Jan. 3, 2023. She was born in Boston, MA, one of five children of Greek immigrant parents, Philip and Demetra (Georgountzos) Barlas. She graduated from the Jeremiah E Burke High in 1947 and finished training as Dental Assistant at the Boston School of Dental Nursing in 1949. She left the dental profession when she married Spiro "Peter" Dragotakes in 1952. They started and built their family life in 3-deckers residing in Dorchester and Mattapan, ending at their final residence in Roslindale where they spent 50 years together raising their 3 children. Christine returned to employment as a state employee with over 35 years of service retiring as Senior Clerk in the MA state civil service. She enjoyed her years of employment in Boston downtown with daily browses thru Filenes Basement on her lunch break. She spent her retirement years tending her home and doting on her multiplying numbers of grandchildren. Christine enjoyed traveling, especially to visit family, to whom her life's attention was dedicated. Her lifetime can be described as an expression of kindness and compassion to each and every person and soul she met. She was the bond that held her family strong thru a lifetime's journey. Beloved wife of the late Spiros S. Dragotakes. Devoted mother of Stephen C. Dragotakes and his wife Donna, Demetra "Debbie" Smith, and her husband Ronald, and the late Philip Dragotakes. Grand-mother of Christopher Dragotakes, Alexander, and Nicholas "Quigly" Dragotakes; Zachary Smith and his wife Rachael, and Benjamin and Ashley Smith. Great Grand-Mother to Spiro and Kalman Dragotakes. Sister In-law to the late Mary Mihaljian and the late John and George Mihaljian. Also survived by many relatives and friends. Funeral Service on Saturday, January 14, 2023 at 10AM in the Annunciation Cathedral, Parker and Ruggles Sts., Boston, Mass. Visiting hours on Friday, January 13, 2023 at the Gormley Funeral Home, 2055 Centre St, West Roxbury, MA from 5PM to 8 PM. Relatives and friends kindly invited to attend.
