Charlotte Ann (Wright) Powers
Charlotte A. (Wright) Powers, 85, of Quincy, MA, formerly of Dorchester, passed away peacefully on March 3, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Nashua, New Hampshire, Charlotte was the daughter of the late Foster E. and Mildred L. (Gendron) Wright. She was raised in New Hampshire before moving to Dorchester, Massachusetts, where she built a life rooted in love, faith, and family. She married John W. Powers Jr, and together they raised their seven children, creating a home filled with warmth, laughter, and devotion.
Charlotte had a deep love for helping others and treasured every moment spent with her children and grandchildren. She especially enjoyed their daily walks to the beach, where they soaked up the sunshine and created cherished memories. She also shared a passion for gardening with her beloved husband, John, and their home flourished with beautiful flowers each spring.
In 1999, Charlotte faced the unexpected loss of her husband, John. Despite her grief, she continued to nurture their garden, finding solace and strength in its beauty. She established a Smoking Cessation Program at Milton Hospital, faithfully attending weekly meetings.
Her faith was central to her life. As a parishioner she was actively involved at St. Ann's Church. Spending over two decades teaching Confirmation classes, finding great joy in guiding and mentoring the children of her parish.
Above all, Charlotte's greatest joy was her family. She was the heart of every gathering, a source of unwavering love and support. Her grandchildren affectionately turned to "Grammy" for prayers and reassurance, knowing she would always be there with open arms.
Charlotte was predeceased by her beloved husband, John W. Powers Jr., and her grandson, Ronny Hennessy. She was the devoted mother of Cindy L. Mignosa and her husband William, John W. "Michael" Powers III and his wife Dorothy Ann (Dottie) Karen M. Marques and her husband Richard, Thomas J. Powers and his wife Debbie, Linda M. Nickerson, Gregory S. Powers and his wife Linda, and Jeffrey M. Powers. She was the cherished Grammy of 24 grandchildren and beloved GG to 19 great-grandchildren, each of whom she held a special bond with.
Charlotte was the loving sister of Foster E. Wright and his wife Susan and the late Peter P. Wright and his wife Ruth Ferguson and is survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
