Charles L. Smith, 67, of Watertown, formerly of Cambridge, Mass. passed away unexpectedly on March 13, 2011. Beloved husband of Catarina (Sena) Smith. Loving father of Candice, Colin, David, Stacy, Tony, Gabriel and Arthur. Brother of Joe, John, Richard and Betty May. Also survived by 2 grandchildren and many nieces,nephews, relatives and friends. He receive a BS from Iowa State University and two Master's Degrees from Harvard University's Graduate School of Design. He established several companies in the fields of design, construction, real estate, and planning. In 1972, Charles created ComPlan,Inc., a professional design and planning company of architects,landscape architects,planners and civil engineers in the US and another company ComPlan de Venezuela S.A. in Caracas, Venezuela providing market feasibility and development studies. In 1989, he founded a company, DataSmith Resources, Inc. It was similar to ComPlan S.A. except it included real estate brokers as part of a Multiple Listing Service (MLS) servicing the Metropolitan Boston area. Unlike other MLS services, DataSmith Tracked sales by controlled sales at the registries & monitoring the market time for all properties including For Sale By Owners. He was the proprietor of The Smith Group and Design Built 4-U. He changed many lives with his inspiring architectural designs. Funeral Services were held on March 15, 2011. Interment was held in Mt. Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge, Mass.
