March 20, 1943 – December 23, 2025
At age 82, eldest child of the late Timothy and Helen McCarthy, beloved wife of Chris Stribakos, Prof Em, Massachusetts College of Art & Design, died of sepsis in Beth Israel Hospital on Dec. 23rd.
Educational accomplishments include: B.A., St. Mary of the Woods College, Indiana, where she spent eight years as a religious; J.D., Suffolk University; M.L.A., Harvard University.
A "natural-born" teacher, she taught successfully at many levels—grammar school, high school and college. She taught languages at the prestigious Boston Latin School for eighteen years, and was an instructor at various times at Hellenic College and the Massachusetts College of Art. Fluent in Spanish and French, with a deep and abiding interest in art and literature, she often led Latin school students on educational trips, most often to France. In the last few years she assisted her husband, Prof.
Stribakos in conducting the Seminar on Romanticism at Mass Art via Zoom. The students were delighted by her unique contributions to the course.
An enthusiastic and very talented photographer, she was affectionally dubbed, "Auntie Paparazzi" by her nieces and nephews.
She leaves behind after forty-six happy year of marriage her loving but grieving husband, Chris Stribakos, as well as six siblings, brothers William, Timothy, Jr., "Ted", John, Bryan, and Michael (her brother Kevin predeceased her), and sister Maureen, Numerous nieces and nephews, and four godchildren (both Roman Catholic and Greek Orthodox).
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, December 30, 2025 at 10:00AM Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church, 14 Magazine Street, Cambridge, MA. Visitation prior to the Funeral Services from 9:00AM to 10:00AM at the church. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Sisters of Providence, Saint Mary of the Woods, Indiana, the Boston Latin School, the Massachusetts College of Art & Design, And the Sts. Constantine and Helen Orthodox Church.
