Colivas
March 28, 1940 – June 14, 2025
Canella (Gazetos) Colivas of Watertown, MA passed away on June 14th, 2025 at age 85.
Born in Goritsa, Greece, she was the eldest child of the late Spiros and Stavroula (Konstantaki) Gazetos. In 1960, Canella married Michael Colivas, her beloved late husband. They had two sons, Andrew and Spiro, and moved to the United States in 1968.
Canella is survived by her sons, Andrew Colivas, and his wife Georgia, and Spiro Colivas. Canella was the proud grandmother "Yiayia" to Michael and Paulina Colivas, who she referred to as her pride and joy. She is also survived by her brother, Thanasi Gazetos, and his wife Tena, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews both here and in Greece.
Canella was a devoted parishioner at the Taxiarche Greek Orthodox Church in Watertown, MA, where she attended church on Sundays and volunteered at the annual Greek festival. She will be remembered for her homemade moustokouloura, her evening cup of Greek coffee with her "Michali," and her willingness to help her children and grandchildren. May her memory be eternal.
Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, June 25, 2025 at 11am at the Taxiarchae Greek Orthodox Church, 25 Bigelow Ave., Watertown, MA. Visitation prior to the Service from 10am to 11am at the church. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the above named church.
